We have a heart for mission!

Jane's Lunch Bunch prepares and delivers sack lunches to Casa Maria Soup Kitchen, where they are given to the homeless, hungry people in our community. It's fun to work on God's Assembly Line. And if you see juice boxes on sale, the Lunch Bunch could always use them. Loose change placed in the offering bowls funds this mission.

chocolate barEqual Exchange Products
When you buy Equal Exchange tea or chocolate, you get to enjoy organic 100% fair trade sustainably grown and produced products. You can also feel good about it, because your purchase creates jobs. Look for the vending cart on the patio after worship. You can also enjoy Just Coffee during fellowship after worship!

Grocery Cart Collection
Empty grocery cartOn the first Sunday of the month, church members bring in nonperishable food to fill the grocery cart. Boxing up foodAll donations are given to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. Peanut butter, cereal, canned soups, canned meat, canned tomato products, canned vegetables, and canned fruit are the most requested items. Several times a year, we form a team and volunteer for three hours on a Saturday morning. We move mountains (literally! 17,000 lbs) of food, and box it up for hungry people in our community.

quiltersQuilts Plus
Our Quilts Plus group crafts handmade quilts but the goal is not merely to make and distribute them. Each quilt is blessed in worship and then hand-tied by our members as they say a silent prayer for the recipient of that particular quilt. Our members and friends struggling with illness or other hardships receive the quilt–and the knowledge that each comes with a variety of loving prayers from our community of faith.

Quilts Plus also designs and crafts caps for nurses, tote bags for medical walkers and pocket prayer squares.

School Supplies Drive
Every year before the school year begins, the congregation purchases school supplies. These are given to needy students who would otherwise struggle to afford them.

ICS turns the words "faith in action" into reality, filling the gaps for services in Pima County. They serve the needs of the elderly, the disabled, and the disadvantaged.

Special Offerings
Our congregation also supports the following PCUSA special offerings: Christmas Joy, One Great Hour of SharingOne Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, and Peace & Global Witness. We also host a Christmas Giving Fair each Advent season, raising funds for our Mission projects and non-profit organizations in our community (see recipients in righthand sidebar). And last, but not least, we support Presbyterian Campus Ministry by feeding them with love and lasagna.

Adopt a Family
At Christmastime, St John members help out a needy family by buying presents for their children.
