Speaking About Dying: A Workshop Addressing End of Life Decisions.
Retired funeral director Larry Rayburn, Pastor Lesley Abrams, and Dr. Donna Fulton will be addressing how we might end our lives with greater dignity and meaning as well as the important work of hospice nurses for end of life care. Speaking about Dying will be held from 9:00 a.m. until noon Saturday morning, February 24th, in Fellowship Hall. The workshop is free and open to the public (invite friends).
It's perhaps one of our most taboo subjects: dying. And yet, if we do not tell our loved ones what we wish to have happen when we die, we are complicating their lives, as well as our own. Do you wish to be resuscitated should you have a heart attack while in the hospital? What kind of music would you like played at your memorial? What is hospice and how does it benefit us? These and your questions will be addressed in this informal workshop.
World Day of Prayer
On Friday, March 2nd, our Sanctuary will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for all those who wish to participate in the World Day of Prayer.
The World Day of Prayer is an international ecumenical Christian laywomen's initiative. It is run under the motto "Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action," and is celebrated annually in over 170 countries on the first Friday in March. The movement aims to bring together people of various races, cultures, and traditions in a yearly common Day of Prayer, as well as in closer fellowship, understanding, and action throughout the year.
Through the World Day of Prayer, people are encouranged to become aware of the other countries and cultures and no longer live in isolation. They are also encouraged to take up the burdens of other people, to sympathize with the problems of other countries and cultures and pray with and for them. They are further encouraged to become aware of their talents and to use them in the service of society. The World Day of Prayer aims to demonstrate that prayer and action are inseparable and that both have immeasurable influence in the world.
